Jr. High Week Information

Theme for the week:

“Roasting My Prey - a week of diligence”

 

“A lazy man does not roast his prey,

but the precious possession of a man is diligence.”

BEGIN:

The Jr. High Conference will begin on Sunday evening at 8pm at:

 

Columbia, SC:   Union Methodist Church (Irmo)

Charlotte, NC:   Kingsway Baptist Church

 

Once on campus and unpacked, the servants will be instructed where they will serve for the week. 

There will be a parents meeting at 8:30pm with the Servanthood Project Director

for any parent who desires to hear more about the week and ask questions.   

 

LODGING:

The church classrooms will be transformed into bedrooms.  This will become Headquarters during the week. 

Students will sleep on air mattresses, cots and sleeping bags and will be divided by gender among the rooms.  

Adequate adult leadership from all churches will be dividedly equally among the rooms.

 

MEALS:

Each week will have their very own “Chefs” preparing both breakfast & dinner each night in the kitchen.

Lunches will be provided by a team of parents from each church represented.

TRANSPORTATION:

Personal vehicles and rented 7 and 15 passenger vans driven by responsible, safety conscious adults.  

 

LEADERSHIP RATIO:

We are asking every church to bring a 1:4 (leader:student) ratio for the week. 

We welcome parents to come and serve as well!  Please sign up to assist through your church.

 

MINISTRY PROJECTS:

Students will be assigned to 1 or 2 ministry projects for the week.

SHOW & TELL:

Show & Tell is the evening session in which we will highlight (by showing and telling) how

God moved during the day in the various projects. This will consist of a funny program (with video clips from

the work sites that day), Singing, Teaching & Small Group discussion.

 

ABOUT THE TEACHING:

There will be three (3) formal teaching opportunities each day; Morning Devotional, Evening Session & Small Groups.

 

Morning Devotional:

Every morning the students will be challenged from God’s Word as well as given an opportunity to spend some time in the Word themselves.  Everyone will be provided a pen and an official Servanthood Project Journal.

 

EVENING SESSION:

After a fun program time and singing, the group will be taught God’s Word by a gifted communicator on the theme for the week.

small GROUPS:

Immediately after each evening session, individual churches will have an opportunity to get with their own

youth group to go through the small group questions and reflect on all that they learned.

 

S   P   A   C   E:

Space will be limited. Because of this, spots will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis.  

To sign up, you must register with one of the participating churches

COSTS ($):

Some churches may need to charge a fee to cover the cost of rental vans.  Others may subsidize the week with some scholarships.  Because of this, costs may vary slightly per church.  Please contact your Youth Director to find out exactly what it will cost.

 

END:

Friday evening at 9pm.  Please encourage all students to stay through this important ending!   Parents are invited to attend this session and to hear from their own children the impact this week had on their walk with Christ.
